Our new fur baby - Remington

Oh...2020. What we didn't know on New Year's Eve of 2019!

In January I was still traveling. Our team went to Denver for the Outdoor Retailer show. Then the first week of February we went to Magic in Las Vegas.  Life was still normal. The second week of February I had a full hysterectomy. With cancer genes running pretty strong in the female line of my immediate family and my history of endometriosis and fibroid it was best to eliminate the unnecessary!

Somehow I was able to get my hubby to agree to let me have a new puppy. Of course we only stick to one type of dog...terrier.  Not shedding is a requirement. Luckily we found Remington.

We waited until May to get his first haircut.

He joined our family so easy. He just fell into the groove.

On August 19th I was at the hospital with Haven getting her IVIG treatment when I realized my phone was turned off. Kris had called five times. So I called him back and he was in a panic at the vet. Remington had done something- still not sure what - and broke his arm.

Like really broke it. By the time I got home he was back and wrapped up in a cast.

We took such good care of that arm for about 5 weeks. When we thought he was getting the cast off and would be going again.  We were wrong. The vet came in and showed us his unwrapped arm.  The bone was working its way through his skin and almost exposed. He had to have the arm amputated. I was beyond devastated.

Well. We were sure how he'd learn to walk or potty. Potty time was the hardest. After a couple of days helping him he was really wanting to do it himself.

Now he's just a normal, crazy, playful pup. He had his first birthday last weekend. He enjoyed smoked boar for dinner and some yummy treats and toys.

To say he's spoiled would be an understatement because he still gets handfed. He's amazing.

Happy first birthday Remington!!!

Haven picks Nicodemus Annabelle (Nikki)

Well...you know it's hard to choose when they all look this cute. Three of them are boys and two of them are girls.

Haven went to see the puppies today and pick out her Nikki Deez. The other little girl is going to be name Luna.

It was a hard decision. Haven is also trying to learn how to hold them and play with them. She kept reminding us that this is her first puppy and she will learn. But she absolutely loves the puppy. She has a calendar that she marks down to the day she gets Nikki.

After playing and holding both girls Haven had the hard decision of picking who she would take home. It wasn't easy - both girls are absolutely adorable. The boys are so cute too and the play so funny.

Finally she made the decision and Nikki Deez was chosen. She picked the more wild of the two and the one that liked to nibble. She is so adorable. It's really hard to pick just one. But we can't wait for her to come home.

Haven put her necklace on Nikki and with help was able to hold her for a picture. Nikki and all the babies have grown quite a bit in the past 3 weeks.....so we stayed close to make sure everyone was comfy.

Nikki was crying a little when we put her back in the pen......but she'll be home with us soon! Love you Nikki!!!! Haven says she'll be thinking about you.
Thank you Karen for letting us come over to see all the babies...they are amazing!

Our Newest Edition

Well we would like to introduce the world to our new little girl. We're very excited to have her join our family. Haven is overwhelmed with excitement.

She is only 3 weeks old right now but Haven was specially invited to come and see her new puppy early. Haven asks us every day what she would be doing, where she would be sitting, what she will want to play...everything. Now she knows what she will look like!
There are 2 girls. The picture above and this one. Haven didn't pick which one she wanted yet - we're going to do that in about 3 weeks when they are a little bigger and have a little more personality. Right now they are barely able to hold their heads up or walk.

Here are all of the gorgeous puppies. You just look at them and want to love them all. There are the 2 girls and 3 boys. I love the stretched out legs.

This is Haven giving the mom, Bonnie, a treat. What type of dog did we get? A Miniature Schnauzer. For years I have wanted a black/silver and they are hard to find. We were going to get one for Haven at the beginning of last year in hopes of helping her with depression and all her medical issues but hospital plans changed that. Now that we have gone through some major hospital stays we felt Haven deserved to have a real life puppy to love.

This is the mom, Bonnie. She is absolutely the sweetest dog I have ever seen. She is so gentle and loving.

Above is a video of the babies eating. I have never seen this before so I was happy Haven was able to see it.

So what is her new puppy's name? Well.....ever seen the movie "The Secret of Nimh"?

Nickademus Anabelle --- or Nikkideez for short --- will be joining us on Thanksgiving weekend!

Thank you Karen for letting Haven come to see her new puppy early. She has been non-stop talking about her. Even practicing holding her on her stuffed animals.

ROHHAD in Ireland

I received this story in my email today. It still shocks me that my daughter has ROHHAD. It's a horrible disease that destroys a child...
